the power of love - marisol del sol

Marisol Del Sol is a contemporary expressionist painter who lives and works in Houston, Texas. A native of Cuba, Marisol discovered her passion for painting and began experimenting with mixed mediums and surfaces at an early age. The use of bright colors and strong lines are a reflection of her Caribbean roots and free spirit.

She left her native Cuba to live in Madrid, Spain and later moved ot Caracas, Venezuela where she studied Fine Arts. She holds a Degree in International Business with a concentration in Fine Arts from Kean University, NJ and a Master’s Degree from the University of Leicester, UK.

In 2010 when she was diagnosed with cancer she returned to painting. In her own words, “painting was my way to heal myself; a form of therapy that restored the joy to live life to the fullest again. I believe painting has shown me a way back to LIFE.”

Marisol’s personal style proposes a return to basic through simple shapes, definite strokes and vibrant colors to express emotions. She describes it as her unique way to express her love for life, nature and simplicity.

“I want people to look at my paintings and have a ‘feel good’ sensation; sort of what you feel when drinking a glass of cold water on a very hot day.

“Today, the world is going through a lot of pain; we need LOVE and art to heal, to survive, to become the best we can be.

“Love is, no doubt, the way out for us all.” – she says with shining eyes and a big smile.
